5 Things that made me start loving my life and stop wanting everyone else's (plus a free workbook)

5 Things that made me start loving my life and stop wanting everyone else's www.prettiebirdie.com

It is really easy at times to get caught up in status and where we feel we should be in life.  I know that feeling all too well.  I didn’t really plan to take the path that I’ve taken in life.  In my head  I had it all planned out a totally different way.  I used to really worry about where I felt I should be rather than focusing on where I was at that moment.  When you get in that mind frame it’s really easy to look at other people’s lives and compare them to your own. This isn't the way to get that happy life we're all searching for.  It’s so easy to look at what your peers are doing and feel like you should be doing the same or something comparable.

I’ve learned that you can’t do that.  You can’t look at others to gauge where your own life should be.  Who determines that anyway? I’ve discovered through so many things that it’s only God that does.  I’ve tried so many times to do things my way.  Each time I found out that it wasn’t going to work if I didn’t include God in those plans.  When you give your life to Christ you are submitting to Him and His will for your life; at least you should be.  He has nothing but good things planned for you. He only wants to help you navigate through this journey , so that you can live the happiest most successful life you can.

When I finally understood that, I did 5 things that completely changed my life.

I stopped planning

This was in fact one of the hardest things I ever had to do in my life. I think we are designed to plan out things and execute them.

I decided to stop looking at other people’s lives and feeling like I needed to measure up.

This was again a hard one.  Your whole life you are kind of ranked and compared to your peers, so it’s completely easy to just get caught up in that sort of thinking. Before you know it you are looking at your friend’s and acquaintance's lives and comparing them to your own. Stop it! Like really stop that now!  What’s for you is for you and what’s for them is for them.

I truly submitted to God

I’ve always had a relationship with Christ, but when I truly submitted, I stopped playing games. I got serious about growing a deeper relationship with Him and truly seeking to discover what my purpose was in Him.

I asked Him to lead and guide my footsteps and use me for what I was created for

I decided to step out on a journey that would lead me to my God given purpose. He’s created us all with a destiny and a purpose and our deepest desire should be to find out what that is so we can accomplish it.

I stopped looking at other people’s stuff, and began to cherish my own

Looking at other people’s stuff can be fun, but isn’t it much more fun to look at your own things and actually love and cherish them? Trust me it totally is. When you begin to stop and really see all the things that God has blessed you with, it deepens your appreciation for Him and them.

It’s been an amazing journey so far. It’s not easy at times, but honestly not much in life ever is.  I encourage you to do same and watch how God works in your life. I guarantee that He will take you places you never thought you could go. Have you ever experienced anything like this? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

Learning to appreciate your life can be difficult when we get caught up in the stresses of everyday. We just need a little help pointing us in the right direction, so we can see what's right in front of us.
